How to prepare for GATE Biotechnology exam-overview

Any exams you want to prepare is mainly based on how much time you have and how much dedicated is you. If you want to clear the exam in last year of your graduation, it is best you start your preparation at 3rd year of BTech degree. You can also join in any coaching institute like biotechnika, but in my opinion the best way is study with your own hard work .There are also many online platform where you can prepare for GATE exam like unacademy, IFAS classes, youtube, etc.

It is important to clearly understand the concepts of every topics in GATE exam. These are the main steps to crack GATE biotechnology exam;

1) Syllabus

The important thing is to get many printed copies of your syllabus and stick to it. Try to read the syllabus very well so that you get a clear idea of what to study and what not. GATE does not ask questions out of syllabus. Figure out what percentage of the syllabus you want to cover. If you are strong with your concepts and you are confident enough then go for full syllabus otherwise not. Try to prepare those subjects in which you are confident. But one tip is that don't skip any unit of the syllabus fully. click here

In any you have to go through PYQ as many as times. If you done 10 PYQ of GATE BT is enough and if you think it is not enough then you can also work on PYQ of DBT,CSIR chapter wise because this exam have extended syllabus. Figure out your mistakes and work on them. Revise these mistakes so that you don't commit them during your final exam. click here

3) Standard books

Always refer standard books for every subject to clear your concept, it not only clear your exam , it will help you in the interview also. Read standard books for each subject. Try to stick to one particular book. Too much material will consume a lot of your time. 4) Create your own notes

Make short conceptual notes from the material that you read. Notes should be concise and include figures and schematics so that you retain the concepts for a long time .

5)Timetable and revision

Make a proper timetable of your daily and monthly goals. Try to complete your targets and manage your time well. Revise daily whatever you read. Complete the syllabus that you want to finish within December so that you get time for your revision.

6) Mock test papers

from January onwards do mock test papers as many as possible. Note down the mistakes and don't study any new topic at that period. Don't be afraid if mock test is not going well. Just learn to manage the time and decrease the negative marking. Try to get enrolled in the test series (Biotecnika) and give proper half and full test with full dedication and concentration as if you are giving your real exam.

7) Exam day

Finally don't be afraid of exam. Treat this as if you are giving this as any other exam that you give. Don’t think too much about the result. Just try to solve the question that you get. Don't make arbitary guesses. Solve question which you are sure of. Plan properly the three hours that you get for your exam.
